The project is a direct response to the relocation of Florence's famous Palazzo St. Lorenzo St. Market following legislation in 2013 banning vendors from occupying the spaces around the Medici Chapel. By moving the market into the air above the palazzo it circumvents these new rules and relocates the market near the unending stream of tourists in the city.
