Aescape Retail Studios

Overview

Architectural Design // Strategy // Product Design // Firm: Cactus

In preparation for its public launch, pioneering AI robotic massage brand Aescape turned to Cactus to develop its studio user experience and replicable ‘kit of parts’ for rapid retail deployment. Working with Aescape’s leadership team, I lead a multi pronged design exercise that included positioning the brand for a brick and mortar opening, their first studio owner operated location in Williamsburg Brooklyn, trade show booth design, a design kit of parts, and the Aescape pod; A standalone product for single Aescape massage table that can be dropped nearly anywhere and creates a private space of the brand that can be deployed in a variety of different contexts.

Adaptable kit of parts allows for various configurations at a number of scales

We worked closely with the Aescape team to prototype and fabricate the first pods for their first studio pilot, with later iterations designed for mass production.

The pod is the distillation of the brand form language that can stand-alone beyond the studio. It is inspired by the intersecting clasp of technology and humanity, and represents our promise of rejuvenation. Its form reflected key design elements of Aescape’s massage table, such as the curvature and material of the table.
